This salad has a wonderful taste, nice aroma of garlic, olive oil and lime flavor. The brightness and color of the salad is best for parties. We love the quinoa salad at Costco and was eager to try this salad at home. Basically my husband is a soup and salad lover. I prefer making <a href="http://a-kaleidoscopic-dream.blogspot.com/2015/06/chickpeas-cranberry-pomegranate-salad.html" target="_blank">chickpeas cranberry pomegranate salad</a> or <a href="http://a-kaleidoscopic-dream.blogspot.com/2015/08/karamanilobiablack-eyed-pea-salad.html" target="_blank">black eyed pea salad</a> or <a href="http://a-kaleidoscopic-dream.blogspot.com/2015/06/apple-salad.html" target="_blank">apple salad</a> but wanted to give this a shot for a change and it worked wonders. <li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Green bell pepper (finely chopped) - 1/2 cup </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Red bell pepper (finely chopped) - 1/2 cup </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Jalapeno (finely chopped) - 1</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Onion (finely chopped) - 1/2 cup</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Black olives - 1/3 cup </span></li>

<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">In a kadai, cook the quinoa with 1 1/2 cups of water. Once quinoa cooked, allow it to rest for sometime and fluff it with a fork. Keep it separately. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Take a wide mixing bowl - add onions, green & red bell pepper, jalapeno, black olives. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Drain water from black beans in the tin and wash it several times to remove the preservative smell. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Then add black beans to the bowl along with cooked quinoa.</span></li>

But I warn you, you may need at least 2 hours in hand for this. Boil water enough to soak the black eyed peas and turn it off. Soak the peas in the boiled water and close the container with lid. In couple of hours, you will get to the same stage as it would have been if you had soaked overnight or 5 hrs in advance.</span></div>

This is such a easy recipe, takes hardly 10 minutes to cook and can be served as appetizer or as a side to any rice or pasta. I wanted to serve this as a side to burnt garlic fried rice but the buttery, garlic-ey aroma wafted throughout the house, got tempted and we had it as an appetizer. <span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">2. Whisk together - all purpose flour, salt and baking soda in a bowl.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">3. In another bowl, beat the butter until it becomes creamy and smooth.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">4. Add granulated and brown sugar and beat it until fluffy.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">5. Add vanilla extract and milk. Whisk. Whisk.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">6. Add the dry ingredients from step 2 and mix till it is well incorporated.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">7. Add chocolate chips and give it a good mix.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">8. Make small balls from the cookie dough and flatten it using your fingers. Place them in a cookie tray.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">1. Add freshly squeezed lemon juice to the cooked rice along with salt. Keep it aside.Give it a taste test to adjust the quantity of lemon juice and salt.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">2. Roast the peanuts in little oil till they get crisp and turns brown.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">1. Heat oil in a pan and when hot, add mustard seeds. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">2. When the mustard seeds splutter, add channa dhal and give it a quick stir for 30 seconds.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">3. Add urad dhal, red chillies, turmeric powder, asafoetida and curry leaves.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">4. Fry for few seconds until the lentils change color. Make sure you do not burn the lentils.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">5. Turn off the stove and add the rice to the pan along with fried peanuts.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">6. Mix very well but gently making sure the color and spices are evenly mixed without breaking the grains of rice.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">7. Garnish with cilantro and it is ready to serve</span><br />

<li><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Heat oil in a kadai. Add mustard, jeera, red chillies and curry leaves. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Add chopped tomatoes along with salt, allow it to cook till mushy in medium flame.</span></li>

<li><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Now add 2 1/2 cups of water, 1/4 cup of tamarind water and allow it to boil for 4-5 minutes. Lastly add rasam powder, jaggery and just allow it to boil for a second. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Switch off the flame. Add chopped cilantro and close it immediately to retain the aroma of the rasam. </span></li>

usually order a garden fresh omelette or oven roasted
vegetable skillet, but my husband likes sweeter stuff and would order pancakes, waffles or french toasts.</span> For the first time I tried pancakes to see why he likes them so much. I'm not a big fan of pancakes for breakfast or brunch as it's sweet but now I think I should change my mind, as it was awesome. It was soft, had a fluffy texture, spongy and was melting in the mouth like an ice cream. I like pancakes when served with fresh butter, whipped cream and a side of seasonal fruits ;-) </span></div>

<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Add maida, milk, brown sugar, oil and baking powder together in a mixing bowl and then whisk it well without any lumps. Keep it aside undisturbed for 10-15 minutes.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Heat a griddle until hot in medium flame. Grease with butter and pour the pancake batter. Do not spread.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Wait until bubbles pop over the pancake. Then flip it carefully over other side and cook for few minutes in medium flame. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Once ready transfer hot pancake to the serving plate. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Repeat the same process for other pancakes too.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Serve the pancakes with maple syrup and fruits of your choice. </span></li>

<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">You can make this pancakes vegan by adding almond milk.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">If using wheat, milk usage will be more than maida. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">You can add fruits like strawberry, blueberry to pancakes. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">You can add cinnamon or vanilla essence to the batter for more flavor. </span></li>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">1. Boil 3 cups of water. When it starts boiling, turn off the stove and add the chopped cauliflower florets to the hot water. Keep it covered for 20 minutes.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">2. Grind tomatoes and cashews to a smooth paste.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">3. Drain the cauliflowers and wipe them dry.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">4.</span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> Heat a teaspoon of oil in a pan and add the cauliflower florets. Saute on medium flame for about 8 to 10 minutes until the cauliflower gets some brown spots. Keep the cauliflowers aside.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>Method:</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">1. Heat 2 teaspoons of oil in the same pan.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">2. Add bay leaf and fennel seeds and fry for few seconds.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">3. Add chopped onions and fry until golden brown.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">4. Add ginger garlic paste and fry until the raw smell goes away.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">5. Add the ground tomato cashew paste and give a good mix.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">6. Add the other spices - turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala and red chilli powder.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">7. Saute and stir for about 15 minutes. You should see the oil leaving the sides of masala.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">8. Add 1.5 cups of water and give it a stir.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">9. Add the cauliflower florets along with required salt.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">10. Stir and cover cooked for about 15 minutes or until the florets are completely cooked. Make sure to stir at regular intervals.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">11. Add crushed kasuri methi and yoghurt. Give it one good stir.</span><br />

So I thought I'll roast them up and make hummus out of it. It was indeed treat to my eyes and party in mouth you guys! I just couldn't taste the beet at all!! It's just like the classic hummus, only prettier!Perfect with <a href="http://a-kaleidoscopic-dream.blogspot.com/2014/11/baked-pita-chips.html" target="_blank">pita chips</a>, it's sure to please your guests. The recipe is definitely a keeper. Lets get to the recipe already!!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: x-small;"><b>For roasting beets</b></span><br />

<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Beetroot- one small(peeled & roughly chopped)</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Oil- 1 tsp</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">salt & red chili powder or pepper- to taste</span></li>

<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">yogurt- 2 tbsp</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">oil- 2 tbsp</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">salt & red chili powder- to taste</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">lemon juice-1 tsp</span></li>

<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Pre-heat the oven to 350deg F .</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Coat the beets with oil and sprinkle with salt & pepper/red chili powder.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Place them on a baking sheet and bake for 20-30 mins.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Once done, a</span><span style="color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">dd this along with other ingredients under 'for the dip' in a blender.</span></li>
<li><span style="color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Puree it until you get a smooth, creamy paste. Do a taste-test and add more salt/red chili powder if required.</span></li>
