Besan Ladoo/Chickpea Flour Sweet Balls

If somebody asks me, 'What is your signature dish (sweet) all your friends rave about?' I will shamelessly scream that it is Besan Ladoo.

Ok! Before you judge me...

I prepared this delicacy for Diwali, one of the many other significant festivals in India.Yeah, we Indians love to celebrate. Seriously, This is the easiest Indian sweet dish I have ever prepared and can be done in a jiffy with only a trio of ingredients.

Now, tell me who wouldn't be elated if people rave over such an easy-peasy dish.

For readers who are new to the words, Besan means Chickpea flour and ladoo/ laddu means sweet balls. This decadent treat just melts in your mouth and takes you on a free trip to Candy Heaven!!

Ingredients

1. Besan/Chickpea flour - 1 cup
2. Powdered Sugar - 1 cup
3. Organic Ghee - 1/2 cup
4. Cardamom Powder - a pinch (optional)
5. Saffron strands/Cashews/Raisins- For Garnishing(optional)

I've been using Organic Ghee by Pure Indian Foods.

Since I use ghee often, I'm glad I found this product and eat with no regrets. It has no GMOs, no preservatives, no trans fats. It is made from the milk of pastured cows, fed on fresh green grass. They do offer other variants of Ghee, oils & spices.

Method

1. Dry roast besan well in a pan on low flame. Keep stirring often so that besan doesn't get burned.
2. After 10 min, add ghee and mix well.Stir for 5 mins and remove the pan off the stove. Let it cool.
3. Add the powdered sugar & cardamom powder(if using) to the besan mixture and mix well to avoid any lumps.
4. By now, it should be warm enough to handle, shape them into ladoos/balls.
5. Embellish the ladoos with saffron strands/nuts.Store in an air-tight          container.
