Raw Mango Chutney (Manga Thogayal)
Posted by

Hello friends! I'm back again with an interesting chutney/thogayal recipe. I am a crazy lover to the yummy flavor and tangy taste of mango. Whenever I have manga or mango in any form, it always stays in the taste bud for a long time. It is the season of mangoes in tropical regions and most of us will be doing pickle, rice, pachadi or sambar. Why not try this thogayal or chutney for a change. It goes well with dosai, idly and plain steamed rice with ghee. Here you go with the recipe...

Banana Strawberry Shake

Summer means different things to different people in different parts of the world. Back home in India, I grew up in Chennai. I love Chennai but definitely not a fan of its summer which is too harsh and merciless. Scorching heat, raising tempers, sweats that wash away the little glow on the face that is left and to top it all, frequent power failures – is this enough for you to get the feel of it?! Like it or not – you are left with no option but to deal with it. It clasps you with its sweaty embrace that you can never really escape!

But now that I moved to Chicago, it is like the mighty sun has silently heard my curses all along and decided to show me now what it would look like without 'him'. It is already May and summer still looks like a distant dream in Chicago. I just cant wait for some sunshine. I have always dreaded summer but now no one can be more excited than I am for it.Whoof! The grass is always greener on the other side and the person who quoted this definitely knew a thing or two about the different climates in different parts of the world.
So wherever you are, if you like summer or not- there is something we can do to make you happy – Milkshakes/Fruit Juices/Smoothies. Trust me; you are going to see lot more of these recipes in our blog for the next couple of months! When I say ‘lot more’ I mean ‘LOT MORE’ (you will soon know what it means ;)) Let us fight/rejoice (depends where you are) the summer together.
So here is the recipe for banana strawberry shake -

Easy Rasamalai

Rasamalai is a famous Bangladeshi dessert. Cardamom, saffron and pistachio with milk gives a great aroma and taste. I missed the Chennai style rasamalai's after coming to Chicago. This recipe is easy to make if you have ready made rasgullas at home. Haldiram's ready made rasgullas works best for this recipe. I will soon post the recipe for making home made rasgullas. This is a very special post for us, as it's our 6th monthsary @ "A Kaleidoscopic Dream". Thanks for all your support & here we go with the recipe...

Once the child starts behaving in a certain way, you start to attribute that trait to them (i.e., he often doesn't listen, therefore he's a "bad listener"). But you know what, Marwa tells us about how we can change how we see it and how it can change them too."
Stacey chose Fruit Pudding Salad from Mommy on Demand. "This looks absolutely delicious! I am always looking for cool treats to combat the hot summer months. I will definitely be adding this to my recipe list! Thanks for sharing!"

Jewelry Holder

When was the last time you went to your local ‘Dollar store’? Are you not a fan of ‘Dollar store’? C’mon, you got to be kidding me! You pick any product and it cost you just a $1 ! What more do you need ! Hm, I admit I have always had doubts on the quality of the product! You know, we tend to complain when the price of the product is too high; and doubt when it is too less!! I totally get it ! But believe me, if you love to craft, you would love ‘Dollar Store! I would say, it is one of the many places where inspirations are born.
There have been many times when I would go to ‘Dollar store’ for no specific reason at all. But as I walk around the aisles, I get lost amidst all the cute things lying around which would then wake the creative devil in me. All the 'pins' I would have pinned on Pinterest, all the DIY videos I would have watched on YouTube flash in a moment and finally I will end up with a bag of purchase which I will never have regrets for!
My last purchase included these :

Mint Cilantro Raita
Posted by

Mint and Cilantro are like best friends. This combination is my all time favorite. The taste of this simple raitha is so flavorful and refreshing especially for summer as curd keeps our body cool. This is one of the easiest and quick raita that goes good with any kind of Biryani. But I personally liked it with the quinoa pulao. I think raita doesn't need more introduction, so here you go straight to the recipe.

Snickers Peanut Butter Cookie
Posted by

I am heading to India in few days for a solid 1 month vacation. I'll be visiting my family, friends, favorite restaurants. Ah, I literally cannot wait!
I just finished emptying my pantry, since I am gonna be away from kitchen for 1 month. Whoa! I must say it was quite a purge challenge, using up all the odds and ends from pantry & freezer and reinventing a menu out of that. It's so satisfying to know that I din't waste anything and used it up pretty well before everything got expired. One such thing among which needed to be used soon was a half jar of peanut butter. There was no second thought, I knew I am gonna bake my favorite peanut butter cookie. But this time I planned to take that classic peanut butter cookie up a notch by adding guess what? Snickers .. YES! No prizes for guessing that ;)
Oh BTW Snickers is not from my purge party, its from my regular candy jar which never goes out of stock. :D

Quinoa Pulao

Quinoa is more a vegetable than a grain. It is tasty, a go-to diet for weight watchers and it is rich in fiber. Quinoa grain has balanced amount of amino acid, vitamins, minerals, fibers and proteins. It will satisfy your hunger and not make you feel deprived. The fiber found in quinoa will reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke. It is a replacement for rice. For the first time,I had no idea how to cook it. But thanks to my sister, she gave me this healthy and delicious recipe. It can be cooked in many ways, one such is pulav. Stay tuned for many different dishes using Quinoa. This post is dedicated to my sister :) Here you go with the recipe.
