Raw Mango Chutney (Manga Thogayal)

Hello friends! I'm back again with an interesting chutney/thogayal recipe. I am a crazy lover to the yummy flavor and tangy taste of mango. Whenever I have manga  or mango in any form, it always stays in the taste bud for a long time. It is the season of mangoes in tropical regions and most of us will be doing pickle, rice, pachadi or sambar. Why not  try this thogayal or chutney for a change. It goes well with dosai, idly and plain steamed rice with ghee. Here you go with the recipe...

Ingredients

Manga/Raw Mango (chopped)
½ cup
Grated coconut
1 cup
Green chili
5
Garlic
2
Pottukadalai /Roasted channa dal
2 tbsp
Cilantro
¼ cup
Asafoetida
Pinch
Salt
As needed

To Temper

Oil
2 tsp
Mustard
½ tsp
Urad dal
½ tsp
Red chili
2
Curry leaves
As needed

Method

  • Chop raw mangoes to rough cubes and wash it well.
  • Grind all the ingredients in the table give above to a smooth paste.

  • After grinding the mixture, transfer to a bowl and temper with items given in the table above " to temper". Mix well.
  • Now the chutney is ready to be served. It tastes excellent!
